Nov 2, 2009 - The City of Newton became the first community in Massachusetts to adopt the Stretch Energy Code. 

"With the adoption of the Stretch Code, the City of Newton continues its long and 
proud tradition of environmental leadership," said Mayor Cohen. "The adoption of 
the Stretch Code means that Newton will begin to adhere to the most rigorous 
environmental standards of any Massachusetts community for residential and 
most commercial construction."
